iGEN and Deloitte hosted their inaugural joint conference regarding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards on June 11, 2024. The event took place at the Malta Marriott Resort and Spa in Balluta Bay.
The invitation-only gathering aimed to address the new ESG regulations introduced by the European Union. iGEN stated that the organization intends to facilitate thought leadership within the iGaming sector regarding these compliance requirements. The company emphasized its position as an independent body capable of collaborating with major players in both the ESG and iGaming spheres.
Regulatory Framework and Industry Perspectives
Antoine Fenech, Director of Audit and Assurance at Deloitte, opened the session at 09:00. He introduced the keynote address by Charles Mizzi, CEO of the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). Mizzi discussed the regulator's role in ensuring industry sustainability, referencing the recently issued Voluntary ESG Code for the Remote Gaming Sector in Malta.
Following the keynote, Enrico Bradamante, iGEN Founder and Chairman, participated in a discussion with Liesbeth Oost, Head of ESG at JVH Gaming and Entertainment Group. The dialogue focused on the specific impact of ESG on iGaming companies, balancing compliance obligations with business opportunities. The event was recorded to distribute content to industry professionals unable to attend.
Bradamante noted that iGEN plans to organize similar collaborations in the future to help gaming companies navigate the regulatory landscape.
