Glen Smith, communications and CSR coordinator at iGEN, is preparing for the organization’s third corporate social responsibility event of the year. The initiative will take place on September 17 to support World Cleanup Day across Malta.
Career Background and iGEN Collaboration
Smith joined iGEN in early 2022 after spending five and a half years at Betsson’s in-house agency in Malta. His professional background includes design and marketing roles in London and Stockholm before he relocated to Malta in 2016. During his tenure as head of concept development, he collaborated with iGEN on reputation management videos and launched a dedicated iGaming career portal. The platform serves as a recruitment hub for the local sector and hosts a searchable database of member organization vacancies. Following his departure from Betsson in 2021, Smith established an independent creative consulting firm. Enrico from iGEN approached him in spring 2022 to oversee communications and CSR activities, noting his environmental focus.Environmental Initiatives and Cleanup Events
Smith’s focus on environmental initiatives stems from his hiking and mountain biking routes through the Maltese countryside. Observing widespread litter during daily walks in 2020, he founded Bahar ic Caghaq Cleanup in May of that year to document and remove waste near his north coast residence. Initial cleanup efforts involved local volunteers, including Enrico and his two daughters. This collaboration led to iGEN’s first coordinated CSR activity on Earth Day in April 2022. The group recently collected 28 bin bags of debris during a localized cleanup near Bahar ic Caghaq. The September 17 event marks the third major CSR campaign of the year.Smith’s environmental work traces back to 2020, when daily walks during the lockdown revealed widespread litter in the Maltese countryside. He founded Bahar ic Caghaq Cleanup that May to document and remove waste near his north coast residence, with early volunteer efforts including participation from iGEN representatives.
